The Chinchilla Community                             

Chinchilla is a friendly, vibrant place to live and work, with a wide range of activities, events and attractions that are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.  Boasting the very best in education, sport and recreation facilities, and health services, Chinchilla offers a laid-back, country lifestle with the convenience of city living.

Thanks to a robust economy led by the development of natural resources in the area, the town is experiencing growth never seen before.  This is resulting in modern real estate developments and business expansion that is adding significantly to the prospreous outlook of the town.

Numerous primary schools are situated throughout the district, varying in size from small country schools through to the Chinchilla Primary School which has more than 500 children in attendance.  Secondary education is also provided, thanks to the Chinchilla State High School, which has previously been named in the top 10 schools in Australia for two consecutive years.  This award-winning High School offers a wide range of subjects, and is renowned for providing a strong academic curriculum. Chinchilla is renowned for hosting a variety of events, the main one being the Chinchilla Melon Festival which attracts people from all over the country.  The festival is a week of melon mania with all types of activities involving melons such as, melon skiing and melon bungee.  It occurs biannualy and has recenlty gained international recognition. Other events including the Grandfather Clock Campdraft, Rotary's May Day Carnival,  Art's in the Park and the Lion's Mardi Gras, are also popular with visitors and the local public.

Chinchilla is a traditional country town with a strong commmunity spirit and keen sense of civic pride.  The people of Chinchilla will ensure that they maintain a rich and diverse lifestyle that is second to none.
