Chinchilla is renowned for hosting a variety of events, the main one being the Chinchilla Melon Festival which attracts people from all over the country.  The festival is a week of melon mania with all types of activities involving melons such as, melon skiing and melon bungee.  It occurs biannualy and has recenlty gained international recognition. Other events including the Grandfather Clock Campdraft, Rotary's May Day Carnival,  Art's in the Park and the Lion's Mardi Gras, are also popular with visitors and the local public.
